"The Root of Qigong"

with Kenneth Cohen

The Root of Qigong:
Stand Like the Pine, Move Like the Wind
THE YI QUAN INTENSIVE
With Kenneth Cohen

Qigong is a powerful and highly enjoyable system of gentle exercise, breathing techniques, and meditation from China. It develops health, vitality, mental quiet, and an alert spirit. Qigong is the essence of Chinese preventive medicine, and scientific research strongly supports its many benefits.

In this intensive course, you will learn the Yi Quan style of Qigong, one of the most powerful energy development systems in the world and Ken Cohen’s personal favorite. It consists of meditative standing, walking, and partner practices that teach correct posture, alignment, and balanced use of energy. Yi Quan is the foundation and “vocabulary” of Qigong. Learn it, practice it, and you can make any kind of “sentence” you wish. To put it simply, it leads to an awakened and more fully alive body and mind.

What You Will Learn

  • Yi Quan Standing: Learn to stand like a tree, rooted into the ground, to cultivate deep breathing, better posture, and an inner reservoir of healing energy.
  • The Five Stages of Yi Quan Walking: meditative walking to improve balance and coordination.
  • Peng Energy: learn how to develop resilient internal strength to prevent injuries from falls and athletics.
  • Yi Quan Healing Imagery: to relax, destress, and connect with the energy of the universe.
  • How to Store and Release Energy: create healthy boundaries to conserve energy and increase your capacity to give to others.
  • The Application of Yi Quan to Basketball, Baseball, Football, Swimming, Tai Chi, Martial Arts, Running, and other sports.
  • Yi Quan Somatic Therapy: how to use Yi Quan principles to help a client or friend overcome physical or neurological challenges (no previous experience or training necessary).
  • Qigong Philosophy, Science, and Entertaining Stories of the Old Masters

Unlike Tai Chi, the “choreography” of Yi Quan is not complicated; the movements are easy to learn, yet just as effective as Tai Chi in improving health. Yi Quan is a great method for beginners and for anyone who wishes to improve their functioning
