Gray Bear Lodge Retreat Center is a place to learn, grow, restore and renew. We hope that you, as guests and friends,
have had your hearts touched by the Gray Bear experience and by the
beauty of the surrounding forests. And recently, as some of you know, we have been blessed with the opportunity to protect and maintain this natural haven.
Last March, 200 acres of pristine forest adjacent to Gray Bear were slated to be clear-
cut. This pristine area is home to dogwood, hickory, red oak, and maple trees, beautiful
streams, majestic waterfalls, tall pines, wild turkey nesting grounds, inspiring cliff
faces, and fields of wildflowers. Gray Bear's goal was to purchase the land and preserve its
silent sanctuaries--the bamboo meditation gardens, the hiking trails, and the abundant wildlife. Preserving this adjacent forest will help ensure a place for you to listen to the exotic woodpecker calls, to take in glorious sunrises and sunsets, and to watch starry night skies.
Success!
Through the overwhelming support of many contributors, we were able to secure the initial payments to preserve the 200 acres surrounding Gray Bear Lodge, but we are now challenged with the monthly payments necessary to complete the preservation project. Please consider a gift to help us continue the effort to create a Wilderness Retreat Center where peace and harmony reign.
